About the TLMR Lab

The Translational Livestock Microbiome Research (TLMR) Lab is located at the University of Manitoba.

We are an interdisciplinary team of microbiologists, veterinarians, and computational biologists working together to solve critical challenges in livestock agriculture.

Our Mission

To decode the complex interactions between livestock hosts and their resident microbiota, translating these fundamental discoveries into practical tools that improve animal health, production efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Facilities

Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for:

  • Anaerobic microbiology and culturing (Rumen/Gut simulation)
  • Molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, automated DNA/RNA extraction)
  • Next-Generation Sequencing platforms (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore)
  • Bioinformatics and high-performance computing
